Stories through the gate

This garment is inspired by the old gates of Rajasthan. Their floral carvings, curved arches and detailed patterns are shown using applique work on fabric. Used earthy colours like brick red, terracotta and brown to show the old stone and wood. The applique adds layers and depth just like the curved surface of the gates. The shape of the garment is tall and straight like a doorway. This design brings history and craft together in a modern wearable way.
